Southwark.TV wants to hear from people who are producing or about to produce online radio. Using your PC or Mac you can listen online to broadcasts, both live and on request. Producers can get feedback from listeners and archive programmes for later use. Please contact Chris Haydon by email at the Community TV Trust or phone 020 7701 0878 for more details if you are interested in finding out more or are ready to take the next step.
Online radio can serve a city, borough, housing estate, or simply a street. This is an exciting and simple way to establish a sense of community which we are keen to foster, encourage and be a part of. In 2004 Radio Peckham started broadcasting locally here in Southwark on a 30 day licence, and they are waiting to hear about a full 5 license for which they have applied. Meanwhile they are streaming over the internet. This is an encouraging development for local media practitioners in Southwark.
AMARC, the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters, is based in Montreal, Quebec, and the former head of the CMA in Britain is now head of the organisation. Click here for their website.
